Redbird Electric News

We have moved!

We finally did it. We packed up the old shop and moved it across town. The old place served us well, but there is time a in every tattoo shops life when she has to ask herself, "Am I living up to my potential?". The answer in this case was no. We had always hoped that the old neighborhood would come back around. That some one would come around and buy up some of the old buildings, and put some cool shit in them. Turns out... no.  Once the mini-casino moved in, we knew it was time to move out.

So, move out we did. We purchased a building in the center of town, and we couldn't be happier. It's more than twice the size of the original. We have our own parking lot. And, the bar next door serves perfectly cooked tater tots. What more can you ask for?

We're excited to see all of our old friends, see our new place. Don't be a stranger.

Matthew Forkenbrock is in the house!

I am super excited to welcome Matthew Forkenbrock to our family. Over the last year, I have interviewed countless tattooers, looking to fill our empty chair; but, none of them were up to my standards. I have always said, "The only people good enough to tattoo at Redbird, are those good enough to tattoo me.". If I wouldn't get tattooed by you, why would our clients?

Thankfully though, there are good tattooers out there, and Matt is one of them. He maybe a young tattooer (just under 3 years experience), but he is hard working, and talented. Two qualities required to learn, and grow, in this business. I like to think his portfolio reflects that. I have the utmost faith that he was the right choice to fill Redbird's coveted third chair.

Please help us make him feel welcome. His books will be pretty open for a while, since he just moved here from Kankakee, IL. Starting today, he will be on a client building mission, and able to take walk-ins most days.

He's a really nice guy, and he'll do ya right.

Springfield Art Association's Paint the Street event!

Tattoo Rose, Rose, Traditional Tattoo

We will once again be sponsoring and participating in the Springfield Art Association's Paint the Street event. Every year the SAA throws an art block party in Downtown Springfield. Participants can purchase a 6'x6' square of Washington St., between 4th and 7th, and paint just about what ever they want in it!

We're closing the shop for the day, and the Redbird Crew will be downtown painting our square. So, come down, bring the family, and grab a square. They're $30 until Friday, and $35 the day of the event. All proceeds go to support the great programs and facilities at the Springfield Art Association.

The Paint the Street event Saturday July 9th, from Noon until 7pm. The paint will be there until Mother Nature washes it away!

Springfield Pridefest 2016

We are once again sponsoring Springfield PrideFest, as a shout out to all of our LGBTQ friends and family. Your support of us, makes it real easy to support you. Not to mention you all tend to be a fucking riot, and we always have a great time. Just like last year, the shop donated some cash, and the crew is donating their time. Head downtown on May 21st, and look for us. Brian and Jesse will be working security, and Ernie "the Apprentice" will be checking ID's! Brian told him he'll get extra credit if he does it in drag.

Check out the events of the day by following the link below.

We hope to see you there!

Good bye 2015!

Well, it's been a banger of a year, but we're ready to put it to rest. Thank you to all who walked through our doors, this year. It has been a pleasure to tattoo you, and we can only hope you enjoyed your visits as much as we did. We work hard to make Redbird the best it can be, and without you, that would not be possible.

So, seriously, thank you so much for your support, and please, please, please, please, please... come see us again in 2016. We've got a lot of cool things planned, and we wouldn't want you to miss them.

Be safe tonight and Happy New Year!
